Continuous progesterone question
« on: Today at 11:55:33 AM »

Does anyone take 200mg progesterone, vaginally, continuously? This is what I’ve been advised, but when I google, it says taking it vaginally is off label, so I’m concerned it isn’t tested fully, and may not be as safe as taking it orally? Taking 200mg orally is too much for me, and if I take only 100mg I have on and off heavy bleeding. For context I’ve been on HRT about 8 years - had no bleeding with the Mirena but I don’t want another of those.

 :welcomemm:

hopefully some1 will be along. However, many medicines are offered 'off label' because they have been found to work.

It seems to be a licensing issue rather than a medical one. In the rest of Europe utro is licenced for hrt orally and vaginally. In the UK it's  licensed for hrt orally but ivf vaginally.

I’ve been using 200 continuous vaginally for the last 2 weeks without a problem I  insert one about 3pm and the other at bedtime, obviously as it’s off licence I have no idea if that’s ok but so far it’s working for me
