Just had hysteroscopy, all good.
« on: November 14, 2023, 06:17:54 PM »

I’m now back in my room after hysteroscopy and fitting of Mirena IUD under GA. As far as the recovery team were aware, there was no polypectomy, but a biopsy was taken. I guess the polyp that showed up on the scan has either gone, or wasn’t a polyp at all, but will know more after speaking to the consultant.

Feeling a little bit crampy, but I’m now outside of 2 pots of tea and a plate of sandwiches so I’m now allowed some ibuprofen.

Fingers crossed will be going home around 8pm. Will repost back on how the Mirena is working out for me.

Well done Flossie. 👏

I had mine a few weeks ago, still waiting for results.

Hope your feeling better. 🫡

Good to hear it all went well. Mine is booked for 4th Dec, hoping to have local anaesthetic .
Let us know how you get on with the Mirena
Rest well x

Hope yours goes well. I opted for GA, as I’d had a hysteroscopy before under LA and then had to go back for the polypectomy. The polyp hadn’t shown up on the scan.

This time around it looked like a polyp but they didn’t do a polypectomy so maybe it was just unevenness. Still glad I had GA though

Keep us all posted when you have yours, won’t you?

So, it’s a week since I had the hysteroscopy and biopsy and had the Mirena inserted.

Had a tiny amount of post op spotting for 3 days but the bleeding has now stopped completely. Bearing in mind I had started yet another bleed 2 days before the op, I’m well pleased so far. I had minimal cramping, and as of Saturday I’m just not aware of the Mirena.

The worst thing was the post GA constipation. By Friday I was out shopping for senna 😵‍💫. But a couple of doses did the trick and I feel great now.

No more sluggish mornings feeling hungover from the Utrogestan. I hope it all stays this way 🤞

hi Flossie, its good to hear that everything has settled and that the Mirena is all good as well. You must be so relieved!
Could I ask (as this is coming up for me - in fact, am sitting next to phone waiting for phone appt with my GP to just chat about the options ahead..): are you also using patches for the estrogen to go alongside the Mirena?
thanks :)

Oh out and about already, Well Done  :medal:

Mum swore by prunes with figs  ::).  Can't remember the product name but it's a soft fudge-like sweetie, she would chew half every night.

Yes, I’m using Evorel 50 patches. They’ve always been great for me. The problem has always been the progesterone/progestogen causing bleeding. Been on Evorel Conti and Utrogestan but was still getting bleeds. So far the Mirena agrees with me. I was on Trinordiol for many years for contraception and the progesterone is the same as in that. I didn’t have any issues then, so I was cautiously hopeful about the coil.

Thanks. I rested the day after the procedure and the day after that I was able to attend a friend’s funeral. From then on I felt fine apart from the  💩 issues! The senna worked a treat though.
