Hi I'm a newbie some advice needed
« on: September 01, 2023, 06:08:47 AM »

Morning all! I'm a really new to forums so not sure if this is where I ask a question or not (sorry).  My doc started me on HRT last week. Evorel 50 patch twice a week and utrogestan 100mg nightly.for the first 5 days I want through all sorts of side effects, severe muscle ache, head ache etc this has all settled down but Wednesday (1 week from start) I have a very bad rash, soreness on my labia and vulva not itchy but so sore.  Could this be an allergic reaction?

Morning.

It may be the start of vaginal atrophy.  As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; scalp, deep in the ears, nostrils, eyes, vagina, vulva .... as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Appropriate VA treatment is essential.  Many find 'vagifem' eases symptoms, I use 'ovestin'.  Same idea in that it's inserted into the vagina for 2-3 weeks then as necessary: some require nightly use, others can manage symptoms with every 3rd and 5/6th nights.  There are also moisturisers which can help, i.e. 'yes' or 'sylc'.

welcome - browse round, make notes, ask away.

CLKD thanks for your reply.  I am 4 years post menopause and have had no vaginal issues until this time.  Booking an appointment to be on the safe side.

Definately get it checked out, maybe a reaction or could be thrush.
