Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum. Was feeling isolated and alone. But now in this forum, I love the support and patience that everyone is giving in this forum. Helps with not feeling so alone.

I’m peri menopausal. Hot flushes started early 2021 but eased by early this year. I thought that was it. Periods about every six months.

In May, anxiety, palpitations and very low moods. Did some blood texts and scan of my uterus. Blood texts were ok. Scan showed that my ovaries were smaller in size- pointing to onset of menopause.

Now on HRT  - Evorel sequi. Been on it for about 1.5 months.

Still having initial symptoms: anxiety, low moods, irritability. Now also low energy, lethargic and loss of appetite.

Not sure how long it will take to start experiencing the positive effects of Evorel sequi.

Thank so much.

Hello Ama and welcome to the forum. :)

I am so glad you have found us as you will not be alone here. They say to give HRT three months to know if it working but if it is causing you side effects then that will be different and you may like to try a different one.

Morning.  Welcome from me.  How were your moods during your regular periods?  During The Change we can notice differences in many of our body areas.  As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry for example and muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

I've had anxiety since the age of 3.  Controlled with various medications and relaxation therapies over the years: currently taking ADs for depression as well as having an emergency medication on an 'as necessary' basis.

Some do have palpitations, it's a common topic on the Forum.  It may take a few months for your body to uptake the HRT so that you notice benefits.  The body doesn't get where it is suddenly unless there is surgical intervention.

Which blood tests were taken?  Low VitD levels and thyroid dis-function can cause some of your symptoms.  It is suggested that we all take regular VitD treatments.

Let us know how y ou get on.  some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.

Hi Ama.. did you find that your symptoms worsened during the second half of the month when you were using the conti patches?

As flossieteacake says it can take three months before you know whether a particular HRT is right for you. Side effects often lessen or disappear too by the end  the three months

Thank you all for your kind responses. much appreciated.

Taz, my symptoms got worse in week 5 when I started the second round of the oestrogen (all very confusing). I am now in week 6.

I am hoping that after 3 months the benefits of HRT will kick in.

Thanks.

Hi hunni welcome
I think you need to give the HRT longer as I was started on Evorel Sequi and the oestrogen patches suited me really well but the conti patches did not.
The 2nd HRT helped but took about 2.5 months before things settled. It feels like a slog but try and get thru to month 3 if the side effects arent too brutal as often thats when you feel the full effects. If after this time you still have side effects speak to your GP/meno specialist and try another type of HRTxxx Good luck
