Help please - Missed Utrogestan
« on: January 12, 2023, 06:48:11 PM »

Hello ladies

It's a long while since I have been on here.  Have been quite settled on 2 pumps of Oestrogel in the morning and using 200mg of Utrogestan vaginally days 16 - 28 of cycle (i.e. for 12 nights) plus 1/10 of a sachet of Testogel each day.  Means even though I am 55 I still have a slight bleed but I don't mind.  Have been taking my regime religiously for a couple of years but only just realised that this month I managed to miss all 12 nights of Utrogestan!! Last night should have been the 12th night! Know I need this progestogen to keep me safe so question is: should I start it tonight? Currently don't have a GP and menopause clinic did not return my call so I need some informed advice please.  Thanks as always.

Firstly: don't panic!

I'm sure that someone will be along with advice.  I would be inclined to miss it and start the next part of the regime, I may however, be completely wrong  ::)

Do U not have a calendar to tick off your HRT?  I have to tick off when I go to the loo otherwise I can't remember as my bowel feels full nearly all the while  >:(

hi Dediva,

I wouldnt worry. some people take utro on a 6 week cycle, others on a three month cycle, so from a health perspective I wouldnt worry.
As far as starting tonight is concerned, it depends on how you arrange your cycle to remember it. If you always use utro for the first 12 days of a new pack of oestrogen, then I would do that again, so miss it for this month. if you dont have a system to remember when to take it then it doesnt really matter. The thing to be aware of is that you may have a heavier bleed when you do, or you may have a little breakthrough bleeding for a few months, alternatively you may notice no change.

Hope this helps

If you have a cycle of your own you may well bleed anyway if not I would take it now which will give you a 6week cycle. I don't know anyone who uses utro on a 3 month cycle, the standard 'long cycle' seems to be 6 weeks, that's what I use. Tridesta is a 3 month cycle but that's a different form of hrt.
