Anxiety
« on: January 09, 2023, 11:27:54 AM »

Hi, I’m new to the forum and currently suffering with chronic anxiety.  I’ve just increased estrogel from 2 pumps to 4 and have a more a coil.

Just about to start some therapy called BWRT

Always had anxiety for years but think the menopause has made it worse.

Would love to hear from others and not feel it’s only me suffering here.

Hello Kay. Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear you are suffering with anxiety. It is such a horrid condition and it does seem menopause can make it worse. Do you mind me asking why you have chosen this therapy? I had not heard of it and looked it up. I see the NHS is trailing it.

You will find so many threads on anxiety on here. It is great you are going to start therapy as I think therapy is so helpful for anxiety. I promise that you are not alone.

Hi Flossieteacake

Thank you for your reply - I had BWRT back in 2018 and it worked really well.  I’m pleased the NHS are trailing it.  It’s a therapy where you use visualisation to replace situations that give you anxiety with a preferred response.

I’m just hoping it works for me again 😊

Hello KayW123.

As you will see from this forum anxiety is a common symptom of the menopause and  many ladies say it resolves with adequate Oestrogen.

Personally I have found that Meno anxiety is different from the run of the mill type but
if  the increase in HRT plus your therapy helps that can only be a good thing.

Wishing you well.

I'm sorry you're suffering, anxiety is awful. Just be aware that it can be a symptom of too much oestrogen as well as too little and increasing slowly is recommended (just a little concerned you've gone from 2 to 4 pumps, if you did it overnight you may not know if you're now on too much or too little).

Hi KayW123,

Welcome to the forum.

I'm on gel and I also got chronic anxiety which has improved.

I do find that when I increase my gel I get anxiety it does however settle.

Going from 2 to 4 pumps is quite a jump mind x

Hi Ladies, I had been on 2 pumps for a few years, then with increased night sweats I increased from 2 to 3 for 4 weeks, then reviewed again with the doctor and we decided to try 4 pumps.

It’s just such a shame that doctors won’t do tests that allow us to understand our estrogen levels and it’s all trial and error.

Happy Monday and thank you for your replies xxx

Blood tests are reliably un-reliable due to the rise and fall 24/7 of hormones.

Were you told to add 4 pumps all at once  :-\ ......... mayB little and often incase your body reacts?
