Dosing question: Utrogestan and Estradot
« on: December 14, 2022, 09:13:46 PM »

Hello again ladies,
I'm giving up my experiment at coming off HRT (lasted 3 months, sweats etc. have become unbearable) and seeing my GP on Monday. Since I was last on HRT, utrogestan has become fully funded (I live in New Zealand) and I'd like to try it. I'm 60, had been on HRT for about 10 years...at the end a low dose of 25 Mcg Estradot patches twice a week and provera tabs for 2 weeks every 3 months.

I want to be read for my GP, who is a bit anti HRT and always in a hurry. Can one take Utrogestan as the progesterone part of HRT when one is on 25 mcg Estradot patches? Any recommendations for a dosing regiment?

Thank you all!

Hi,

Yes you can take utrogestan with extradot . There are four schedules that I’m aware of.
1) 200 each evening days 15-26 monthly
2) 200 each evening days 15-26 once every three months
3) 100 each evening days 1-25 every 28 days
4) 100 or 200 each evening.

In peri, options 1 and 2 seem to be preferred, with option 2 used for those whose natural periods are very infrequent.
Options 3/4 can be used by some, especially those who have endometriosis and need to prevent endometrial growth.

In menopause, any can be used and is often personal preference.

Hope it helps
