« on: November 11, 2022, 11:40:36 AM »

Hello ladies. I’ve just started with this  regime Evorel 75 and Utrogestan 200 vaginally daily, Do I need 200 or would 100 br safe? I used Utrogestan orally previously and did not get on with it.

Hi if post menopause then it’s 100 every day. The 200mg capsules are designed for fertility use not hrt, even though they are the same!

I suppose 200 every other day is the same as 100 every day but I can’t say if it will work that way. x

I take 200mg utrogestan orally every day.
Obviously different for every woman.

Hi

I'm on Evorel 50 Patches and Utrogestan.  From what I understand if you're taking the Utrogestan everyday then the dosage is 100mg, which is what I'm on.  I was taking it orally, but I've been having side effects - back pain, stomach ache, pins & needles, so I am now taking the same dose, but vaginally, which seems a bit better.  I think you need to go back to your doctor and get the 100mg capsules.  Good luck!

I have received medical advice and apparently if you use more oestrogen than the average 50mg dose then a higher dose of Utrogestan is required to protect the womb.

Hi that’s not correct advice. 100mg of Utrogestan continually covers up to 4 pumps of Oestrogel or a 100 patch. These are all regulated doses. Above that you may need more progesterone.
The correction info is in this document from the British Menopause Society page 6.

You can also take more if you suffer with bleeding. x

Hi. I was on Evorel 100mg patches and 100 mg utrogestan for 9 months but suffered with terrible break through bleeding. My gp increased the utrogestan to 200mg daily ( with BMS guide
lines, orally or vaginally) and the bleeding stopped almost immediately. I think the normal dose is for 100mg daily which is great if it works for you but I think a lot of post meno women suffer with  bleeding and 200 mg seems to stop it if you can tolerate it. It seems to be all very much trial and error. Good luck!

The best is to start with 100 mg Utrogestan daily and see how you feel. 75 mcg patch is not too high and 100 mg Utrogestan can cover it.
If you continue to have breakthrough bleeding (after 3 to 6 months), then you can increase progesterone to 200 mg.
