Best gynaecologist in London?
« on: September 28, 2022, 04:36:57 PM »

Dear All,

I have been doing a search for advice on who to go to see privately in London, but the only names I could extract from my search were two: the Marion Gluck clinic and the London PMS and Menopause clinic once under Prof. Studd. I checked both of them online: the former seems very fashionable (and only deals with BHRT), the other perhaps more serious. Appearances can be deceptive!

Does anyone have any experience with seeing someone privately in London and any recommendation?

Many thanks in advance! Corinna

Hi Corinna, I would recommend Nick Panay (who studied under Professor Studd and they co-authored quite a few studies).
I see him in his NHS clinic at Chelsea & Westminster and have never felt as if he 'downgraded' his care for non-paying patients which for me is one of the marks of a great doctor (the administrative side of Chelsea & Westminster however is almost criminally awful but that's another story and would not affect you if you saw him privately).
He's extremely easy to talk to and is one of the absolute leaders in the HRT field.
What I most like about him is that he treats the patient-doctor relationship as a collaboration rather than in a sort of top-down way.
His private clinic in London is called Hormone Health (but be prepared to wait as he is very in demand).

I see this Menopause consultant/gynaecologist.  She is absolutely wonderful> Incredibly knowledgeable, very approachable and easy to talk to.  She literally was my saviour as I was desperate for some good and proper advice and without her I feel sure I would still be struggling.     https://www.doctify.com/uk/specialist/dr_anne_henderson

Dear All,

many thanks for this. I will see if I can approach Dr. Panay: I like the collaborative spirit and, entirely agreed, a doctor who does not treat you differently through the NHS is the sign of a true doctor! And I don't mind the bluntness: as an Italian, I deal more easily with that than with the elliptical English way of communicating! ;0)

Any other views?

All best and thanks again

I also really liked Panay and would highly recommend him. John Studd's clinic is also still operating since his death last year but I don't know anything about the doctors there now.

Thank you, Margherita,

Dr Panay is super wanted: his first face-to-face appointment is for March! I have asked to see someone associated with his practice. I presume if trained by him they cannot be that bad.

Let's see what I get to see: happy to report back for future reference!

All best to all

Corinna, I would think seeing someone else at Panay's practice would be fine as it's quite a small team - of which one is his wife I believe. I'm not surprised the wait is so long!

Dear All and Laszla,

thank you for your further thoughts. I did ask for another doctor. I was told that that other doctor only works from home and therefore only does telephone consultation for £320. As a very first consultation, my expectation would be to be seen, or am I expecting too much?

A doctor needs to see you, that's my strong belief. Does anyone agree? All best to you all
