Low moods and anger
« on: September 28, 2022, 01:26:14 PM »

Hey everyone. Just signed up today after being recommended by my GP.
Recently had blood test done to find out if I was menopausal and it came back that my levels are high so very likely and to get them done again in 6 weeks to confirm.
Anyway..wondering if the way I'm feeling is normalish for our time of our lifes.
Out of nowhere my mood can change and I just about feel emotionless and irritable and angry. I'm not very nice to be around at all..I have no problems at home or work so nothing to make me feel this way. Its really horrible.

Hello Pennylane and welcome to the forum. Menopause can cause low moods and anger. Your hormones can be all over the place and this has an affect on mood. It is great your GP knows about this forum. :)

If you are going to start HRT then once your hormones become more balanced you should find the low moods and anger improves.

Thanks so much for your reply.

HRT is being discussed after next rounds of bloods..

I have mirena coil in so I'm thinking of using the patch alongside that?

Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind other times I'm brand new.

It is great you are okay on the Mirena as it just means you need to find the right oestrogen. I personally would start slowly on the lowest dose. You could try a 25 patch as that is the lowest. Hopefully you will get on with that. Then it can be increased if needed.

Do not worry, you are not losing your mind. We are all here to support you.

Sounds like peri-menopause from where I'm sitting, those years where periods wax and wane; disappear then Nature throws a curved ball with yet more bleeds  >:(  ::)

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Browse round.  Oestrogen dropping may cause ache sand pains as well as the body may become dry: inside and out.

 :welcomemm:

Oh anger: I would have rages B4 a period; something that was OK the day B4 would set me off Big Time  :cuss: :argue:

Dr Dalton did a lot of research in the 1980s about how hormonal upheaval increases the risks of women committing murder.  She represtend some in Court.
