I have anxiety a lot despite being on 3 pumps of gel and having the mirena coil (11 years of the coil without problems).  Other symptoms are generally under control but the only thing I find helps with the anxiety is a beta blocker.  Minimum dose but it sorts it out for the day.  Not sure if this might be an option for you to at least get that under control?

Thanks Jane,
Yes I do have propranolol 40mg, so may have to start to take that regularly instead.

Which beta blocker do you take ?

Hi, it’s Bisoprolol and only the smallest dose, but it gets rid of the anxiety for the day.

Thanks Pippa.
I don’t even know my own name right now. Not helped by excruciating nerve pain ( still)
Feel sick as a dog , but might have overdosed on pain killers! X

I am so sorry you are feeling so bad, Nas. Can you remember how many pain killers you have taken today? It may help to write down each time you take them just to prevent taking too many.

Hi Flossie
2 nurofen at 7.30, 2 paracetamol at 9.30 and 2 ibuprofen at 11.30 I think.

Then a couple of drops of cbd oil. The 100 patch was making me feel quesy too, so that’s off and will restart by snipping a bit off I think.

That does not sound like an overdose because you can take 6 neuro or ibro a day. With paraceamol it is the same. Try to space out the painkillers with a 4 hour gap though.

I always feel ill after an increase so I understand why you took it off. It is a good idea to cut a quarter off and take it slowly.

Well, been trying HRT for 3 years now, with little success.

Not absorbing much patch, any gel or tablet.

My sleep is non existent, anxiety in the morning, off the scale, libido non existent ( once again!) and just irritable as hell. Brain fog is at another level! Noise sensitive also.

What an earth can I do?
I’m 51 and really struggling with it all now. I need to change job ASAP as my patience has gone totally.

At a total loss with these hormones.

Also, can I take femeston conti with a mirena in situ? I can’t be bothered to have it removed just yet, but might try the tablets again even though they contain progesterone.
I really feel for you.
I could not absorb the oestrogen part of femoston, and had to go on patches, but remember having a hassle with my GP to get evorel and utrogestan.

My suggestion is supplements, however, I learnt that we cannot just start taking them willy nilly.
There is an excellent subreddit on supplements, and my guess is that, as reddit is a huge worldwide site, I would hope that some HRT intolerant women have had success on supplements as menopause is horrendous, I had mine for 14 years but am coming through the end now, and I am the exception rather than the rule.

Hi is it that you’re not absorbing or that you’re not on a high enough dose ? You may be absorbing the maximum from the dose you are on but actually need a higher dose. xxx
I found I was not absorbing the oestrogen part of Femoston, I only got benefit from oestrogen when I went onto patches, but, alas, OP has tried patches.

Yes Dotty, it’s likely I need a higher dose. I’ve just moved to the 100 patch from 75. Will see how things are in a month or so. I can’t get a higher dose; specialist won’t prescribe it

Perinowpost, I don’t think it’s the mirena, things were slipping before it was fitted. Plus I’ve got low oestrogen symptoms.

Happy, do you think the coil was contributing to your symptoms then? The trouble is, I will bleed on utrogestan if the coil is removed. 🤦‍♀️
What are low oestrogen symptoms?
I am wondering, as I have been waking up with that "Perimenopause-related-morning-dread" again, lately.

I was not having any improvements, moving in stages from 50mcg, to 75mcg, the flushes did not go, or the IBS. My mood did not improve and still hasn't, but I noticed my flushes and IBS went on 100mcg within a couple of days, max, but I know each woman is individual.
My low mood could be due to my personal stressful non meno circumstances, my autism, or any other factor.
I hope the 100mcg evorel starts working asap, if I am correct, they say give three months after a change in HRT.

As for clinicians refusing to prescribe more oestrogen than 100mcg, part of me thinks this is unreasonable, because a few women do need more, I have read on here, some women needing more, yet at the same time, the clinicians are concerned about oestrogen related cancer.
I had to reduce from 100mcg because of bleeds and messing with progesterone, luckily, my flushes did not come back until I reduced down to 25mcg, and then, it is only night sweats.

Thanks again all.
Feel like I am having a complere breadown right now. Fuzzy head, snappy, can't sleep, heart pounding. I upped the patch to 100 from 75 and feel worse! I am concerned dementia is setting in. Yesterday, whilst at work, I simply could not understand a simple instruction. My head feels like cotton wool..what id going on?

I am reluctant to have this coil removed, in case I need to stay on oestrogen and start bleeding again. Kathleen, you are right, I do bleed on utrogestan and the mirena has stopped the bleeds. It could be the mirena, causing me bother, I don't know.

Sheila, I do have testosterone but concerned that my oestrogen isn't optimised, so don't know if I will gain any benefit from it or not?

Shopping, definitely do not tamper with doses of oestrogen, it is fatal. Stick with your 3 pumps and hopefully things will settle down for you.

None of this helped by trapped nerves in my arm causing me to feel like I am have been hit by a sledge hammer!
Hello, me again.

Dr Currie suggested vaginal utrogestan for bleeding to me, although I do understand utrogestan is poor at controlling bleeds.
I have had hassle with bleeds, and cannot change progestin, as I am one of those benzodiazepine dependent women for whom things go haywire if I mess around changing progesterone, as it's metabolites act on the same brain nerve receptor as benzodiazepines.
The trapped nerve sounds horrible, I hope we all navigate through this maze asap.
