Which Nurse?  What did the Consultant suggest and why?  Is this something that the Anesthestis would suggest?

I would send the query to Dr Currie in an e-mail for which there is a small fee.

Patti- you don't need to stop HRT if you use transdermal (patch, gel or spray). Because there is no increased risk of clotting from transdermal HRT.

It is only if you use oral HRT, that there is an increased risk of clots after surgery - so oral HRT must be stopped.

Please question this with your team and if necessary seek advice from elsewhere to show them!

Thank you Joziel, that’s what I thought, I had a face to face with the consultant 2 weeks ago I told him what HRT I was taking and he did not say at any point I needed to stop taking before the op !

I have checked Louise Newsons website and it says no reason to stop either  -
I am trying to find out the NICE guidelines too and I will then email the consultants secretary.

BTW - the nurse who did my pre-op must have been all of 28 years old 😏
