Bloods
« on: July 28, 2022, 10:48:31 AM »

Have changed from 100mg patch to Femoston 2/10.  Collected blood test results taken whilst on patches and readings are;

Testosterone 1.4 (I take a pea size amount every other day)

Oestrogen 295

SHGB 145  which is high.

Should I go back to patches to lower SHGB although doesn’t seem like an absorbing estriol as low?

I’ve had a house fire and living in a hotel at the moment.  Feeling terrible.

Can anyone put my mind at rest, am very worried about it - I don’t need this on top of everything else going on.

My Meno doc is on holiday and my GP doesn’t know :(

I'd be really happy with that estrogen level  ;D  It's a good level, in my view - as long as your symptoms are under control?

I also don't see much wrong with your testosterone and SHGB. The thing that matters is the FAI, which is the testosterone x 100 and divided by the SHBG = 0.97% for you, almost 1%. That is on the low side really - 1 to 1.5% Newson say is still in need of supplementation. Over 5% is high - so you want somewhere between 1.5% and 5% FAI. Yours is 1%. Definitely not too high.

I think you should be pretty happy with all those results...

I'm really sorry to hear about the house fire, that sounds incredibly stressful. Was it due to the hot weather recently?

It really depends if your symptoms are under control, are you feeling better on the tablet compared to the patch?

Sorry to hear about the fire Flamingo, that is awful  :'(

As Floo mentioned, it all depends whether your symtoms are under control.
How do you feel on the tablet, compared to the patch?

Thanks everyone that really helps, sorry for delay I’ve been having to shop shop shop as going on holiday Wednesday and have nothing!

Yes it was due to the hot weather :(

Renting a property for a year whilst we get it sorted.

Getting on with the tablets but I have developed a very dry scalp and skin on my forehead…wondering if not enough E in tablets? I started itching it and now it’s on fire 😞 wondering if will need to go back to patches?

Anyone had this?  Xx

Stress perhaps Flamingo and completely understandable.

Well done for getting so much sorted, you’re a Lioness too!

Was the house fire one of those blocks that was affected in the recent field fires ?

My heart goes out to you

Hi, can anyone advise on Testosterone levels, I’ve had a blood test and GP says no need for testosterone
What levels does it need to be before you can be prescribed testosterone replacement?
This is my results

Serum sex hormone binding globulin level 92.8 mol/L [26.0 - 110.0]
Free androgen index 1.1 [0.5 - 6.5]
Serum testosterone level 1.0 mol/L [0.3 - 2.61

Thank you, so doesn’t look like I would be prescribed Testosterone then.

Why? Your FAI is actually already worked out there as 1.1%.

As I said... "1 to 1.5% Newson say is still in need of supplementation. "

If you were a Newson patient, you would be prescribed testosterone. If you can get it from some other doctor, I've no idea...

Thank you, I see now, I was thinking I was 1/2% over the 1.5% 🤦🏻‍♀️
Will return to my GP and ask again.

Most doctors won't prescribe testosterone unless you say you have low libido.

Menopausal 'normal' levels are incredibly low because ovaries aren't producing it after menopause. That doesn't mean 'normal' or okay. Just as estrogen levels without HRT would be very low and 'normal' for a menopausal woman but we still take estrogen to return levels to pre-menopausal levels...

Most women need to see a menopause specialist to be prescribed testosterone. Unless you say you have low libido...

That all makes sense, I like to be armed with information for when I go back to my GP so thank you.
