Testosterone levels
« on: July 22, 2022, 06:46:01 PM »

Hi, I’m on Testogel 50mg sachet to last 10 days= O.5mg per day and I had my testosterone levels checked the other day and they are not now in the female range and I’m concerned. :-\

Serum Testosterone = 4.0nmol/L
SHBG= 68.6nmol/L
Free Androgen Index 5.8

I know from previous blood tests that the Androgen index shouldn’t be above 5 so I’m now concerned that I have too much T in my body.

I’m reluctant to stop the Testogel altogether because I’m feeling the benefits from it so I’m thinking I can reduce the amount and make a sachet last 14-15 days instead of 10 days.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with Testosterone and what did you do?

I’m also on 2 pumps of Oestrogel and 1x capsule Utrogestan every night

Thanks

Xx

Hi Drew

I can never understand the advice about how long to make the sachet last - it sees such a short time and I can't envisage what size daily blob this would mean!

The original dosage of testogel was as you say - a 50 mg T sachet in 5 g gel and I have only ever used a small pea sized blob and the sachet lasts for ages (Ive never worked it out but defo longer than 20 days). I would just reduce to this for several months, to keep your levels within range. See how long the sachet lasts when you use that sized blob...

The later sachets contain half the amount of gel at a higher concentration so blobs more difficult to keep a standard sixe, for women! I think Testim is still at the original concentration?

I've always been within range both for total T and FAI, when measured.

Hope this helps

Thanks Hurdity for your advice, I definitely think that my blob of T is more marrow fat pea sized and although I always make a sachet last 10 days or a little longer, so following the prescribed amount it’s clearly too much for me.

My blood tests in Dec 2021 were fine and and well within the normal range with FAI of 2.3 but my blood test before starting T in Sept 2021 were so low that I had nearly no T and FAI was only 0.7.

It’s ridiculous though that we have to guess like this using a male preparation unless we’re able to pay for Androfemme!

l’ll definitely take your brilliant advice and reduce the blob size to petit pois size and see how long a sachet lasts me.

Many thanks

Drew

I think you're on the right track to make the packet last longer.

I think my packet lasts about 10 days but sometimes my pea sized blobs are bigger than other days.  ;D ;D ;D

Would Tostran be an option instead? I use 1 pump every other day and it's the right dose for me. No guessing what size my pea should be  :).

I prefer the ingredients in Testogel…

Although they are missing a rebrand opportunity to TestoGal 😂

joziel -  I think that making the sachet last longer is the way forward for now :)

Sheila 99 -It might be worth me asking the question about changing to Tostran if making the sachet last longer doesn't work.  I've got a face-to-face GP appointment early August to discuss the results,  whether my GP would change to Tostran given she wasn't willing to prescribe Testogel without the advice from a menopause specialist initially I'm not sure.

Loving the rebrand suggestion of TestoGal, maybe a suggestion to Besins  ;D
