Still spotting on Mirena !
«

Urggh I’m getting annoyed now.
5 weeks in and still spotting with this coil!
I don’t get it. My lining is thin already. Why an earth is it still shedding?
My holiday is in one month and I don’t want to be experiencing this on a beach.
Grrhh... maybe it should come out and ditch HRT.
Blooming headache all of it.

I spotted for 4.5 months with my first one, no idea what my lining was like though. My second one was fitted on Thursday so am wondering how long spotting will last, have had hardly anything so far but haven't started back on Oestrogel yet.

4.5 months Tinkerbell?
Oh my lord!!
Every day spotting? That’s a long time.
Does oestrogen cause the spotting too?

Stick with it if you can Nas. I was prepared for a full 6 months, but in the end I spotted for 2.5 months, for maybe 3 weeks at a time with the odd gap of a couple of weeks with no spotting at all. It was annoying, but compared to the heavy periods I had before it was a breeze. It was also very light, especially towards the end - I didn't even really need to use a towel. Good luck.

It’s damm annoying right now.
I only got one due to bleeding on HRT.

Yes it was every day spotting for the 4.5 months but was very light. I am pleased i put up with it as after that i only got two episodes of slight staining lasting just a few hours but nothing after that and meant i could continue with the Oestrogel as i didn't get on with Utrogestan.

It can be up to 6 months. Just think that you're getting rid of it all and when there's no more, you will stop totally... for years!

Yeah, I'd get a few weeks with nothing at all, and then the spotting would restart again. However, I haven't had any spotting for couple of months now, so fingers crossed, that's it for me! Hurrah!

That gives me some hope I guess.
I just find it really annoying as it stop starts. I mean my lining was 3mm in February. There won’t be a lining soon!
Suppose it’s better than the real bleeds on HRT.

Hi Nas I spotted for nearly 6 months and I’ve heard others say that aswell . The first three months were heavier spotting but then hardly any after that but still there . I just kept clean and wore panty liners . It will settlee we down but can take time but it’s been worth the wait for me personally x

Thanks again
I will try and persevere I guess.
It’s not awful, more annoying really.
I do wonder if it’s the HRT causing the additional spotting. Each time I add an extra blob of gel, the spotting increases. Once I’m back on my usual 75 patch, it goes back to occasional spotting. Weird!
The trouble is, I do need to increase the Oestrogen a bit , as I feel better when I do.

Hello Nas
I recently had scans and an examination due to bleeding and the consultant assured me that the HRT was responsible. My uterus etc was all okay and the lining was only 2mm. I was so relieved I cheered lol.
I have since reduced the gel and increased the prog and the bleeding has now stopped. The consultant also mentioned the Mirena Coil as a solution but I am trying to manage with my new HRT regime to see if it helps.
Not only is so much bleeding inconvenient and frustrating I think frequent blood loss drags us down physically and emotionally as well.
I hope everything settles for you soon and take care.

Thanks Kathleen,
You are right, bleeding can and does drag us down.
I seem to remember that this happened prior to the coil too. Each time I added a blob of additional gel or spray, I would bleed.
Think I’m just going to stick with the patch for now ( except when I have to swap to gel as I can’t get the damm things!).
I do hope things settle for you too Kathleen.
How do you feel in yourself these days?

Niknak
How long have you had your coil now?
Has all the spotting stopped?
I’m on week 5 and still spotting. I’m kind of wondering whether the bleeding on HRT was preferable to continual spotting! It’s such a nuisance now.
What even is this spotting?
