Best method for post menopause
« on: May 30, 2022, 09:22:45 AM »

Hi I'm new here, I'm 59 and only now experiencing every symptom going, I had an endometrial ablation when I was 44 so never had a period after, I was unaware when I would reach menopause, I began gaining weight at 53 and liked on two stone, fast forward six years I'm feeling so unwell with sweats, anxiety, nausea to name but a few.

I succumbed to HRT evorel Conti and began shaking and anxiety ramped up 😔

Where do I go from here, I cannot take SSRIs as I have serotonin syndrome!

What a minefield, any suggestions would be welcome - Dee

Hi DeeDee

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you are feeling the way you do. I have been on and off Evorel Conti for a couple of years now, like you my anxiety has ramped up along with night sweats recently and I am not sure what to do as I have tried gel tablets and other types of Conti regimes. Is it worth contacting GP to see about another form of HRT may help?. I am waiting to see NHS specialist as I have tried all but the mirena coil and my womb lining is thicker than gynaecologist  would like so going for another hysteroscopy which has not helped my anxiety. It really is for me one of the worst symptoms, is yours worse on waking up? I have tried meditation and CBT but I think this is definitely hormones.
Good luck in sorting something out, I am starting to feel this is just a constant battle getting it right. Big hugs. QOR.x

Have either of you considered a sequential regime such as evorel sequi or evorel with utrogestan? It would mean having a short withdrawal bleed but is easier to tolerate as you don’t have to take progesterone every day x

Hi perinowpost, I have tried utrogestan, unfortunately because I had a bleed on that and other undesired symptoms the GP stopped it. But you may have something there with the sequi regime which may help in preventing the build up of lining they are worried about. It is a minefield though.

If it puts your mind at rest lots of us who are post meno (me included) are still on a sequi regime. It’s worth it for the benefits oestrogen brings x

Thank you all for your suggestions, I'm going to try diet and gentle exercises, medications always trigger severe anxiety, I'm 15 years no bleed, occasionally get hot flash or night sweats, tired all the time, no fun is it

CLKD I will have a browse thank you
