Progesterone and reducing Valium help
« on: March 03, 2022, 10:46:08 AM »

Anyone taking combi HRT and Valium - can help here please.
I am trying to find a solution.
Finally started to taper again from 11.5mg V and all seemed to be going well. I tapered 0.25mg every 3 weeks cut and hold.
However at the end of the 6 weeks I have had a horrendous crash - I did have some stressors but I also started on the 14 days of the progesterone patch.
Did the progesterone patch help set me off in this tailspin? It feels like a benzo withdrawal so not sure exactly what has happened. Sitting tight just now but so worried I cannot lift back up.
Advice appreciated please

Hi Miss Piggy,

Well done on the taper, that’s brilliant, keep going!

It gets easier just don’t lose your focus.

Progesterone upsets many!   I wouldn't cut down the 'valium' any more for a week to see whether symptoms settle.  Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you.
I have a mood food symptom diary.
This feeling has been with me since last Monday. That was after the 2 reductions but addition of progesterone patch plus some stressors.
I have not done another reduction. Mood so low.

It can take a while for the body to adjust.  How long have you been on an HRT regime?

Since april 2021. No Menooause systems. Doc just put me on for low mood. They are a disaster with a benzo - I did not know.

Hi, are you doing this taper with a professional or on your own?

Yes but I had not reduced since last August due to circumstances. We agreed a small amount but I am so gutted it has not gone well.
