Vagifem
« on: September 24, 2021, 03:58:35 PM »

Hi all. New to the forum, but after some advice.
Started using vagifem in February 2021 and after the initial 2 week loading dose, went on to use every 3 nights.
All was well after about three months, then I had my first period since January 2021.
Not to be too graphic but my bathroom looked like a crime scene😱
Anyhoo, I'm now having awful VA symptoms again.
So my question is, could I up the vagifem to every other night?
My GP did mention a while ago that if I got too sore I could, in her words, "pop another one up.
I'm going to try and get an appointment, but wondered if I could try this in the mean time

Thank you all. This forum is an amazing place 😊

Hi! it's Trial and Error.

Vagifem can be used nightly if necessary.  Once the loading couple of weeks, it's a bit hit and miss until symptoms ease.  If 1 uses it a few times a week but symptoms return, it's fine to add extra ...... some put one up mid-evening and the same night.  Some find that a moisturiser: 'ovestin', Sylc or Yes products can help the outer labia.

Once you find what works for you, stick with it.  When I get the need to P, I swallow 2 'nurofen' capsules 3 times a day.

Periods wax and wane - it's The Change, does what it says on the tin  ::). Brows round.   :welcomemm:

Hi.  As CLKD mentioned, many of us use Vagifem vaginally AND Estrogen cream (ovestin) for outer area as often as daily.  Personally I use both 5x a week in order to maintain comfort level.  If you need more, go for it.  Quality of life vs quantity.  Good luck and keep us posted.
