New member struggling after 3 great months on HRT
« on: August 25, 2021, 11:10:42 AM »

Hello
I am new to this site and I am looking for some serious help.  I am 58 and started HRT oestrogen tablets treatment 3 months ago.  I was then very quickly taken off this as I have underlying symptoms that I am now being told make this very dangerous for me to be taking.  Now back to taking nothing with no GP help other than being advised to join this forum.  I desperately need help and advice on what is the next best treatment for me.  So all help would be greatly appreciated.  The restless nights, mood swings, aching bones/muscles are just such a nightmare.  Please help
Thanks

Morning.

If your GP isn't happy prescribing HRT he/she should have referred you to a dedicated menopause clinic.

There is a facility here to send a short e-mail to Dr Currie who began MM - stating symptoms and what was suggested that suddenly became 'dangerous'.  There is a charge for this.

MayB tell us what you were prescribed and why the GP decided to take U off the medication?  Some GPs are in the dark ages with regards risks!  There are so many ways of delivering hormone replacement therapy that it is rare that nothing is available.

U could put the product name into the search box on the Forum to see what pops up.  Make notes!

Hi,
I’m going through something very similar. I had to come off my HRT too and within a couple of weeks I have become a mess. Crippling anxiety and noise sensitivity.
I’m finding that doing some guided meditation is helpful in bursts. There are lots of them on you tube for all sorts of problems. Also brown or white noise. It’s meant to really help with sleep, again, loads on you tube.

Transdermal is safer than oral but there really isn't anything that cures oestrogen deficiency other than adding oestrogen. Are you sure your doctor is right? If you're not certain it might be worth seeing a specialist or asking here. It seems a bit surprising it was prescribed then withdrawn.

I cannot remember the name of the actual estrogen.  I had a hysterectomy when I was 45 but still have ovaries so oestrogen-only was prescribed. When I had bloods taken after first 3 months I was taken off immediately and referred to a specialist at our local hospital (Medical pathology). I was in line for stroke/heart attack if I had remained on the tablet.  I am having heart/pancreas investigations done so waiting for results from that.  I really need a replacement for the estrogen.  I am back to feeling so low again and not good.  My GP told me to join this forum and make an appointment with her by phone in a couple of weeks.  Possibly by then, the specialist will be back with results.  So definitely another route for me and looks like it may need to be health shop options. But I am really struggline now.

What on Earth were you given  :o.

MayB keep a mood/food/symptom diary so that you have something to tell your GP. U do not have to go without support, alternatives might help for a while but when our hormones kick in, any benefit is often lost.

Your GP needs to get a grip and read up on the various methods of delivering HRT rather than ignoring your symptoms.  Once you have got the results and more advice, if still a 'no' to HRT I would send an e-mail to Dr Currie ;-)
