I'm almost 63 (next week) and had a late menopause. My last period at 59. A year later my symptoms got really bad but I stuggled on until a few months ago when I found Dr Louise Newson and then approached my GP. Although she did not seem to be very knowledgable on the subject she was happy to prescribe what I asked for. I am currently on 2 pumps of Oestrogel and 1 x 100g utrogestan tablet per day. My symptoms have definately improved a lot, with just one side affect, sore breasts, although that does seem to be easing slightly. I did try reducing the oestrogel but my hot flushes started up again so went back to 2 pumps. I've been taking it for 3 months now so will persevere. I am also on Vagifem 3 times a week for VA.
