Tenensum? Anyone else got bowel problems?
« on: March 12, 2021, 01:55:55 PM »

Just spoke to a locum on the phone and explained that I feel like I need to poop all the time  ::)
She said it sounded like Tenensum (think I've spelt it right) and it can be related to the Meno?
I thought it was sitting too long on a hard seat......she seemed to poopoo that (see what I did there:)
Looked it up and it sounds more like IBD or similar?
Anyone else had it or knows about it?

Tenesmus : Anyone else got bowel problems?
« Reply #1 on: March 12, 2021, 02:21:02 PM »

tenesmus - the feeling of the need to open the bowels but nowt happens: walking around will stimulate action so that 1 needs to return to the loo, with success.  I've been always been worried about being caught out, feeling the need to 'go' but on a walk the bowel begins to grumble  >:(  :o

Nowt to do with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  IBS is from a different area of the gut.

A regular bowel regime is difficult to achieve with tenesmus.  Sit for a few moments and if nowt happens, walk around.  Add more liquid to the diet overall for 3 days to C if that helps.

Is there wind?

Bloody annoying and irritating -especially at the moment as I'm worried about going to be vaccinated in case I want to go!
Sometimes there is a bit of wind and to encourage that I am munching on Wind Settlers....Luvverley

Wind Settlers may be 'binding' ? = lack of response and success

Let it out: long walk ....... exercise will stimulate the bowel.  There should be a toilet available, ring to check?

How much fruit and veg to you eat a week?

Is it upper gut wind that you can't shift?  I don't have a burper so when I do burp, we all do hi5s  ;D [that's me and Himself].

Downwards, not really a problem  ::)

We used 'buscopan' for the  :scottie:

'buscopan' tablets

I never required any treatment.  I know what it is and how to sort it - walking around the house/garden until the feelings ease, either by opening the bowels or it 'goes off'.

I have IBS and tenesmus aint' the same  ;).  The sensations you get mayB not wind at all but a feeling of fullness?  There are a lot of nerve endings around the coccyx ........ when my wind is present I can see it moving from the right side to the belly button and beyond  :o
