HRT question 😊
« on: February 04, 2021, 12:00:57 PM »

Hi all, can someone give me some advice? I have been off my Evorel Sequi patches now for about 9 days, and I'm still bleeding 🙄 is this normal? I tried the Evoral Sequi for 9 weeks.  In the beginning, they were ok and my palpitations went and I felt a big better but then I got worse with low mood, anxiety and the return of the palpitations, which was so disappointing 😥. I was also bleeding on and off for a week at a time, more on than off... I phoned a lovely doctor and I was in a bit of a mess speaking to her, I felt so low.

I'm off them now for 8 days and feel better.... the Doc increased my Sertraline 8 days ago to see if that would help the anxiety etc.  I do feel better, not 100% but better.

The question is, will all HRT make me feel awful? I wanted a back up plan in case things went worse again.  Am I intolerant to it? If anything, I think the combined patch was slightly better than the Oestrogen only patch.   I'm really disapointed.  I still have quite regular periods xx

Any thoughts would be so appreciated xxx

I can't really help or offer advice, but I feel similar. I've tried two different methods of HRT and I just feel it doesn't suit me, and I don't feel great without it either, although more steady. And I'm having a heavy bleed now I've stopped it too.

Awww, Winter, thanks for your message! It's crazy, isn't it? At the moment, I feel better but just scared I'm going to get worse again and nothing will help and it'll last for years 🙄 ... I know I'm being melodramatic 😁 I can cope with my face getting hot but not the all day palpitations and anxiety... yuk! Xxx I hope you can find something soon that helps xx

I feel exactly the same. I can cope with this physical symptoms (there aren't many, and night sweats have settled) but i'm so anxious and the PMS type rages are ruining my life. I'm a single mum and trashing my current relationship. It's so hard. I feel the same, that no HRT will help and I'll be like this for years, with awful patterns of anxiety.

Winter, have you seen a HRT specialist?  Are you on any other medication? Are you still having periods? Maybe because our hormones are so up and down, HRT wont help much in this phase? Sorry to be nosy, just thinking what could help you xxx

Ive seen two specialists. The first put me on Utrogestan only - it wasn't awful, but I got even more PMS symptoms and felt terrible. Second trial was Femoston, which was amazing for sleep, but I had awful headaches, vision and terrible nausea.

Have you tried oestrogel and utrogeston? Return of symptoms usually means you need to increase oestrogen and it's much easier to alter it with gel. If your own cycle gets out of step with the hrt one that can lead to erratic bleeding. I have a longer natural cycle and with evorel sequi I found I bled at odd times, sometimes twice in a month.
IMO it's well worth trying other types, you might have a bad reaction to one but not to another (I developed an allergic reaction to evorel but am fine with gel).

Winter can I suggest you start another thread with details of where you in meno etc.? You might get some helpful suggestions. Not sure why anyone would suggest utro without oestrogen as it's the oestrogen we're lacking.

Hi Sheila! Sorry to butt in sweets!

It's so weird, I initially felt a bit better 4 weeks on the patches, but then my mood got worse week 7 to 9 gradually 🙄 I'm scared to try anything else at the moment... my Doc said that I'm very limited in what I can take now as I still have periods.  After a few days coming off the patches, i felt better but still not much motivation but mood better.  I suppose I was hoping for a miracle xxx

Hi Unicorn I’m still in turmoil too  :o but someone has posted a thread today about the contraceptive pills Qlaira & Zoely which I believe suppress fluctuations in hormones during peri? (I think the thread is by Cookie?!) Could it be these fluctuations & adding more hormones from hrt maybe causing so many up & downs! I might get to my 3 month mark on hrt & if no improvements ask about this

Hi Itwillpass! Omg, I was wondering the same! I have just googled Zoely to see 😁 it is worth a bash .... at the moment, the Doc has increased my Sertraline to 100mg to see if that helps with everything.... it's only been a week, so it's early days but at the moment, I feel better off the patches than on them 😊 it's all so confusing isn't it? I'm hoping these symptoms will only last a few years at the most then level out...... wishful thinking 😁😁 xxx
