AndroFeme (cream) compared to Testogel and Tostran (gel)
« on: October 02, 2020, 07:20:08 PM »

Hello

How does using a cream differ to using a gel?  This seems to me to be the key difference in these products.

I'm aware that AndroFeme is currently imported on a special licence from Australia and therefore is a) only available privately and b) significantly more expensive than UK products (such as Testogel or Tostran) that can be prescribed on the NHS.  I'm wondering if it is worth paying the extra for it. My understanding is that the type of testosterone in both the creams and the gels is the same?

Also, has anybody switched between Testogel and Tostran and noticed any differences?

Many thanks

Hi Kstar

I haven't used Androfemme because as tou say it is only available privately and very expensive. What I would say though is that it is a product developed especially for women and as such could be preferable because less margin for error as doses worked out for women, although I'm not sure how well creams are absrobed compard with gels?

I use Testogel and have used Testim. The only thing is that Tostran is twice as concentrated as Testogel and as only a small amount is used - it is potentially less easy to apply a consistent dose, if you are using a smaller amount than 1 pump. The 1 % gels are preferable really ie Testogel and Testim (this was discontinued about I think now is being manufactured by another company). Oh - and if you use Testogel make sure you have the sachets not the pump pack - the latter is more concentrated and the amount dispensed per pump is far too large and so this product is  far less suitable for women's doses in practical terms.

Hi I have been on the tostran  pump for 6 months alternate days but started me more aggressive and hairy inner thighs! Reduced my dose to every 3 days but consultant put me on the Testogel sachets for consistency. I hate the fact I'm supposed to make it last 10 days as feel it's not accurate. My tiredness came back with Testogel initially but is OK now but mood level is low. But we are all different.
