Hysterectomy and HRT use before and after

Woah someone elsewhere has just scared the bejesus out of me by saying they had to stop HRT for a month before and after their hysterectomy. First I have ever heard this and I’m hoping to book a hysterectomy at my next appointment with gynae on the 6th October.. I’ve been taking HRT for almost 12 months and I’m not keen on stopping it ...

Most consultants wasn't HRT stopped before any major surgery to reduce the risk of blood clots. I had to do this before my hysterectomy and advised to wait a month after before restarting. I think it's mentioned in the patient information leaflet.

Eeek... I’m not keen on that, I’m low risk for dvt otherwise and just had a laparoscopy with no mention of stopping ... I guess it will come up if it needs to. Can’t imagine how I would feel stopping it now AND having a major op  :'( :'( :'(
