Utrogestan
« on: July 14, 2020, 07:51:01 AM »

Hi there,
Like many others on here I’ve been having trouble with progesterone both synthetic and micronised. Before I give up on Utrogestan, I’m trying to switch from sequential 12 days @ 200mg to 25 days @ 100mg to see if that helps as I do seem to start tolerating it better just as I’m away to stop taking it.
My question is how to best do the switch? I’m on day 7 of taking it just now (day 22 of cycle) - Should I stop as usual on day 12 and have a 5 day break?
Many thanks!  :)

Hi Evie 606

The dose is usually for a 28 day cycle so if you are taking the 200 mg x 12 days I would finish the course, stop for 3 or 4 days and then start again and take it for 25 days. Stop for 3 days then start again. If you are post-menopause and don't have your own cycle then you could try making your cycle a calendar month so you would take it on the same dates each month (approx!). Good luck.

Hi Hurdity,

I saw your reply and wanted to ask . I have been on oestrogel with utrogestan for a good number of years now.  I have always taken 100mg orally everyday with no break. Is that ok or should I be having a break every month?

Thanks

Irene

Hi Libralady. It’s fine to take it every day. I take it every day. X

Thanks Hurdity - Very helpful!

Dotty/Libralady - Can I ask how you feel taking it every day? as my gp said this is an option if taking a break doesn’t help. Did you find your tolerance got better over time?
Thanks! X
