Apart from this year's goldfinches and blue tit young, with 4/5 pigeons clearing up under the feeders: an occasional robin and a wren - nowt.  :'(

That's a shame CLKD. We seem to have hung on to our blue and great tit flocks for longer this year. The goldfinches are always here and remain constant at around 20 birds. They cost me a fortune! Also the usual gang of starling's. A couple of robins. Wren. Dunnock still visits. Magpies, pigeons, doves, blackbirds, sparrows all popping in and out through the day. The favourite this year though is a chiff chaff. I'm waiting to see if it will migrate or stay here. I'm sure yours will return when the weather is colder.

Morning.  DH tells me that there is plenty of wild food 'out there'.  However, by mid-Sept I am usually filling up feeders every other day.  I haven't bought live meal worms for 5 weeks as the birds weren't going to them: mayB they need teaching by the parents.  A pair of blackbirds were seen for 24 hours 6 weeks ago ..........

Don't recall seeing a chiff chaff ......... birds of heathland?

Our usual mob are here, goldfinch, blue tits, sparrows and of course the beautiful collared doves,oh and teeny weeny wrens..... I want one  ;D
We have or should I say HAD a little squirrel in the village albeit a grey one but it was lovely seeing it play about on all the trees etc, then last week here it was killed on the road  :'( nobody should be going so fast that they couldn't stop for it as the roads here are small and windy and the majority of folks drive with care but obviously not all

Squirrels are silly on the road.  Many years ago I could see one whizzing backwards and forwards on the carriageway and yep, it darted under my car.  Done.  What a waste of fur etc.  ;)

They are later returning to gardens this year I think as lots of wild stuff around. The redwings appeared in our local field on Thursday. Two weeks later than usual. So great to hear them and to know there's a lovely berry crop for them to fill themselves up after their journey.

There's certainly lots of hawthorn berries.  Robin and wren crept back this morning.  I need to buy and put up more sunflower heart feeders.
