Tosterone Gel
« on: May 07, 2020, 10:45:58 AM »

Hello Everyone,

I have finally succeeded in getting the NHS menopause clinic I attend to prescribe some testosterone gel off licence for me (it cost me approx. ?100 for 3 months worth - does that sound about right? Do men have to pay for testosterone prescriptions?). Anyway, the prescription is being posted out to me but in th meantime can I ask if anyone has any more information about it? I can find Testogel, Tostran, etc online but nothing called Tosterone.

Any information gratefully received.

Thank you.

Is that with just a normal prescription charge, Sheila?

Yes. I had to go to an NHS meno clinic to get it prescribed though. Few GPs will prescribe because there isn't a product licensed for women.

Yes, the NHS meno clinic prescribed it for me but said they had to do it as a private prescription, for which I had to pay around ?100 for 3 months' worth. I'm not very happy about it. I'm already paying a double charge for my patches and separate progesterone.

Hi zar,and fellow meno beauties,
Coincidentally I was on here looking for advice as I'm on the cusp of throwing in the towel with continuous HRT and its the Utrogesten that's causing my problems😑
I started evorel patches over a year ago but quit after migraines. After struggling on I thought would give HRT another go and 4 months ago started on estradiol gel and progesterone ( Utrogesten) tablets.
Was fine for 2 months then started bleeding .
GP sent me for an Urgent Gynae appointment and I had a scan and colposcopy done. Some cervical scarring was mis diagnosed as a polyp, but luckily for me at an appointment to remove it a different Gynae said everything is normal ,the bleeding is caused by your Progesterone element of HRT.
GP  recommended having a mirena coil fitted for progesterone instead but can't be done at moment due to covid. .
Today am in lot of pain with cramps and bleeding so feel like giving up on HRT, but then I'd be back to hot flushes, migraine, bad moods etc😣
Just don't know what to do. . . 😢

Hi orba, maybe start you own thread with a little more info in it? If you're peri or meno, if you're using it as conti or sequi, how long you've been bleeding for. Questions posted inside another thread are often not seen.
