Anxiety on Elleste Duet 2mg
«

Been taking Elleste Duet 2mg for 18 months.
Towards the end of the pack, when taking the norethisterone- containing tablets, I feel very tense, anxious and tearful.
What could I ask my GP or practice nurse to prescribe as an alternative?

It's a nuisance and one of the common questions asked.
Maybe put the name of the product into the search box and see what pops up. Make notes!
Also put 'anxiety' into the box - you'll be reading all day!

Hi florriepeck
Some women do find the combi part of the HRT cycle a bit problematic - especially some of the synthetic progestogens. If it is still causing you issues then you could swap to Femoston 2/10 which has a different progestogen in it? Also depends how many days you feel rough for - a certain amount of pms is only to be expected but the aim is to feel better overall on HRT than off it.
let us know how you get on

Thanks for replies.
Good point re a certain amount of PMT to be expected, and I can at least predict these feelings.
I remember feeling the same a few years ago, before starting HRT, when I once took norethisterone to delay a period for a special holiday, albeit that would have been a bigger dose, I think.
Will keep in mind the Femoston 2/10.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use too. Anxiety for me is overwhelming, even though I know what causes it the physicality over-takes any reason
