Don?t even if I?m coming or going!
« on: February 24, 2020, 09:44:58 AM »

Hi

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am peri (50 tomorrow eek) and on 75mg Evorel plus three pumps of oestrogel. Due to severe progesterone intolerance I'm on a long cycle Provera (3 months under specialist care). However my own cycle is now kicking in monthly despite going nearly a year without a period. Just before my period I'm depressed, anxious and poorly - so much so I can hardly get out of bed. Clearly this isn't normal.

My queries are a. Does this happen to anyone else b. Should I increase or decrease my oestrogen - could this be making me ill (mainly vomiting)

I'm considering the Mirena as I really can't miss a weeks work every month as I'm self employed.

I'm very sensitive to hormone fluctuations and have been since puberty.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi!  put the product name into the search box and see what pops up.  Make notes.

If your cycle is triggered by HRT then it can cause upheaval .... it is after all hormone replacement so if your levels were dropping treatment may be caused them to rise again.

How were your moods during your menstruating years?

Thanks for your reply.
I've always had hormone problems since puberty. Post natal depression and PMDD too.  My menopausal symptoms started at 34 after an ectopic pregnancy.

My oestrogen level was 311 when it was last taken so she increased my oestrogen as they like the level above 350 to be properly effective.

The specialist told me that some women's ovaries have a last kick in when they realise they?re dying!

Before HRT I would go 11-12 months without a period then one would kick in.  But this past few months I've bled virtually continuously. I've had all scans and biopsies which are normal.

That's a start for you if everything is within normal limits.  Which symptom would you like to ease first?   Ovaries often have a sudden kick back - my periods waxed and waned for several years  ::)

There are medications that can help with continual bleeding - has your GP suggested anything?

Maybe ask for referral to a menopause clinic, not to a gynaecologist because they know as little as many GPs!  Does the depression ease once a bleed begins, it did for me.  PMT was awful, didn't start until I was in my 30s.  Awful nausea.  Panic attacks.  PMT happens during the 10-14 days B4 a period begins, should stop until the next month.

My worst period problems was intense pain with clots and spasms.   :'(

The depression eventually lifts a few days after my period ends. I've always suffered more with post menstrual depression rather than pre.

I'm under Dr Sarah Ball at Newson Health and they've been fantastic. I've had my fair share of witch doctors before then!

it's just the constant bleeding which sometimes is hardly noticeable to clots that seems to have my cycle completely bonkers!

I hate the low mood. I find it so difficult to cope with. I think I fight it so much I actually make myself worse !

Could you ask her for advice? It might be that it's your own hormones so you'll have to wait til they pack up, but you're already on a very high dose and if your ovaries are also contributing it could be too much. But she's an expert and I'm not.

Good idea.  Ring Dr Ball's secretary and ask?  You may get a phone call or a note ........
