Testosterone measures
« on: January 17, 2020, 06:02:32 PM »

I have been applying testosterone gel 50mg sachet once daily, which should last 10 days. However although I initially used pea sized blob as directed there was al least another 3-4 good sized blobs left by day 10.
So I have increased to double the size of a pea blob but recently on day 10..I over did it a bit...squeezing the rest of it out more like 3-4 blobs and didn't want to waste it.
Does anyone know if this should be avoided and what negative effects it could have. Perhaps everyone does this.

I've been on it 2 months now with some improved sleep with good and bad days regarding mood but noticed my anxiety returned day after I had the extra dose. This may just be a coincidence but wondered what others have experienced or advise.

I'm also on hrt patches.

Hi Jaz - your post got missed. We all seem to be very busy these days!

Just to say I definitely would NOT squeeze out the extra testosterone left at the end - and in fact there is no need to waste any. I'm not sure about the "making it last 10 days" direction - I mean it's not hard and fast - it depends how you are affected and how it deals with your symptoms. If you were happy using a pea-sized blob then make it last 14 days - mine lasts that long I'm sure - maybe longer? I'm probably well older than you but still - better to undertreat with T than over treat. I doubt women generally do what you suggested ie squeezing out an extra large blob - after all - this is going to give you a large hit of T which I wouldn't think is desirable due to potential side effects!

What other HRT are you using - oestrogen only patches + some sort of progestogen ( if you have a womb)? I presume your T levels have been monitored or will be eg after 3 months to ensure they are within range for women. Also you especially don't want T levels to go too high if oestrogen itself is not very high so I would hope doc would measure this too? Are you under NHS?

Thanks for your response Huridty- what you said makes perfect sense, i was quite disciplined to start with and will just stick with pea size dose now. My T blood test was 0.7. They will be taken again in Feb when I'll be on it about 3months.

Regarding HRT i have no womb so just been on Evorel patches 150 mcg and was working really well and surprisingly my levels although had gone up steadily to 798  (SHGB 48 NMOL/l), my symptoms came back after nearly 4 years.

Consultant suggested i try Testogel ... I've had good and bad days, she said the sachets do make it tricky to get consistent dose but the TESTRAN GEL she prefers is out of stock, i assume this must come in a pump.

To complicate things further I'm running out of Evorel and been prescribed ESTRADEM MX. I think i saw you put on a thread you tried this too. I just put on another thread although patched given are said to be exactly the same as Evorel the packet says 1.5mg on 50 patch but on Evorel says 3.2mg for same size patch.

Does that mean evorel gives higher dosage?
I'm 58yrs by the way kept ovaries when had hysterectomy back in 2007

Thanks
