Femoston 2/10 and bladder issues....
« on: January 10, 2020, 06:25:57 PM »

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well.

Looking for a bit of feedback please...

I am 47, peri and was on Femsoton 1/10 for about a year, then increased onto Femoston 2/10 2 months ago.

Since having children I have leaked urine when I cough/sneeze but only on the odd occasion but couldn't go near a trampoline! I have always done my pelvic floor exercises but think I have only mastered doing them properly for the last couple of years. I would also feel on the odd occasion when out walking that I may be about to leak but never did.

In the last week or so, possibly a bit longer, a couple of times a day I feel as though I am leaking urine and when I check there is either nothing there or on the odd occaion a tiny drop.  I may have had this feeling in the past but it would only have been when I am really desperate for the loo.  I also feel a change in the night where my bladder feels heavy but when I go to the loo there is not much urine to pass.

I am wondering if this is just a worsening of my old symptoms or whether it is to do with increasing my HRT and what can I do to improve things as I am worried they will continue to worsen...

Just looking for any feedback please?

Many thanks.

Hi Alibeau,

probably not the HRT, that should help. Ask to be referred to a pelvic floor physio , there are ones that specialise in that area. Also local estrogen such as vagifem can help.

Many thanks.

I've downloaded an app to remind me to do my pelvic floor exercises which it appears I need to do more regularly and an assortment of exercises, will stick with this until my next GP appointment next month to see if there is any improvement.

Thanks again.

The stress incontinence issues may be to do with a hypertonic PF, and increasing your kegels would make it worse. Why not wait for an assessment by a pelvic physio before attempting anything else, as you may need to be taught to relax it properly first.

Yes the pelvic floor can be too tight also which can cause issues.x

Hi alibeau - this happened to me exactly - the leakage after exercise and I'm sure is common after having several children ( the more you have the worse it gets). I'll never forget when I was dancing at a gig years ago now - maybe early 50's I think and had to stop because of the leakage. I had my children relatively older and is  defo a weak pelvic floor. Also prolapse could be a possibility if you are feeling the heaviness. I always forget to do my pelvic floor exercises but when i do there is defo improvement! I have done Pilates for several years until recently and all of this helps. In your position I would continue with the pelvic floor exercises. I have to say I wear a daily miniscule discreet panti-liner to deal with the odd drip or too especially if I'm exercising at Zumba or running ( sometimes!), or less often these days - dancing at a gig! I'm sure it is much more likely to be weak pelvic floor given your description and the children - I hadn't even heard of hypertonic pelvic floor until a couple of months ago on here..you'll know if the exercises aren't working. I can really feel when I do them the whole pelvic floor area lifting up properly as the muscles contract so there is no way mine is hypertonic for example. When I relax them I can feel it drop away and loosen. Hopefully you can feel the same too?

Also when I'm on the prog part of my cycle I need to go to empty bladder more often and get up for pee at night - does it occur all the time or just on the second part of the hRT cycle?

Thank you all for your replies.

Hurdity - sounds very similar, thank you.  Since downloading the app, doing the exercises properly 3 times a day, I do feel a slight improvement already particularity with the heaviness in the night - and yes, I can definitely feel my muscles 'drop away' and relax when doing the exercises.

I will keep a note of things but yes, it was during the second part of the tablets!

I have a GP appointment on the 30th so will continue with the exercises, see how things go and have a chat with her and at least by then I will know if the app is helping or not!

Thanks again, your feedback is always appreciated.
