Food - and why I enjoy it
« on: August 19, 2019, 11:20:38 AM »

For several months I've had background heartburn which often develops into raging reflux  >:(

A few weeks ago I didn't go shopping so ran out of egg custards, eclairs etc..  Heartburn disappeared  :o

Last week it was background.  Constant.  The need for milk of magnesia and 'rennies' was necessary.

So I am being more cautious about what I am putting into my gob.

Breakfast is always muesli, a little milk and sugar plus a black tea, 2 sugars
Evening meal is usually a curry on rice; stir fried or roasted veg. with chicken or meat ........ mince mixed with veg. on pasta.  Occasionally sandwiches from a store when we are in a hurry or away from the house; usually white bread with filling.  Crisps.  Coke.

I know that I eat too quickly.

Chocolate - the food that melts at body temperature so gives pleasure.  Good for us in small doses  ;).  I fancy different bars - currently it's Cadbury with nuts.  A few months ago it was 2 squares of dark chocolate for pudding.  Flake anyone  ;D

Lunch is the most difficult - today I've had an oven cooked pre-prepared pizza with mozzarella and mushrooms. Eaten slowly.  Savoured, the cheese melting gently and the mushrooms gentle on the palate.   Having been anorexic since aged 3 where food was eaten, enough to keep me upright .......

I really have to fancy foodstuffs in order to consider eating them.  Salad, naahhh ........ radishes however, eaten as a snack! but oh they have been hot recently  :D.  Spuds in any design  :-*

Oh, I have always done that.  It's great because it make the chocolate last longer. :P

It might be the pastry on the custard tarts/eclairs CLKD.
Pastry is hard to digest.

Alpines come from the Alps.   They are very small.  Thin leaved plants, we keep ours in pots on a table to stop the slugs.  Very sweet.  Several Companies sell them on line if you can't find them in Garden Centres.

I love food too, getting more enjoyment out of it since being healthier, flavours seem more powerful & enjoyable since cutting back on sugary things. I seem to be more bloated, IBS & reflux symptoms after bread. I had a brown bread sandwich friday at work, salmon on toast saturday for lunch & sunday am toast & boiled eggs. Was up till 2am this am bloated, reflux & cramps, despite Rennies & Buscopan (I take probiotics & Ranitadine twice a day). Thankfully rarely as bad now but it's awful when its starts & you know you have work in the morning! >:(
