Hi, I have posted before about HRT and have finally started my regime.  I have been given an Oestrogel pump and 100mg of Utrogestan to take for 2 weeks in every month.  I've read that some ladies take the Utrogestan vaginally (which gives less side effects) and as I remember having terrible reactions to the mini-pill I'm wondering if this is the way to go.

Are these tablets designed to go 'up that way'?  Do you just push them up there (sorry!).

Would like to have as least side effects etc.  I have hot flushes on and off (not all the time), irregular periods which are heavy, anxiety and mood swings.  I am 49.

Hi if you are taking it for 2 weeks the the dose is 200mg of Utrogestan.

You can take it orally or vaginally x

Thanks Dotty - pretty sure she said one tablet for 2 weeks and (I'll have to check the box when I'm home) that they're 100 mg??

Also I forgot to say that I'm also on 75mg of Levothyroxine a day (not sure if this is relevant or not)?

Sorry, one more thing, before I shut up!

I am going on holiday on 15 July and stupidly started the estrogel yesterday.  I'm thinking is it best to wait until I'm back from holiday and start then?  I'll be back on 25 July.

I've also been prescribed the same as you - 1 x 100mg of Utrogestan for days 14 -28 and oestrogel x 1 pump every day.  I've yet to start, but hoping this is the right amount of Utrogestan as the doc has already made an error in a previous prescription.

Can anyone clarify? Thanks in advance.

If you look at the above link it shows you that the dosage for Utrogestan taken on a cycle is 2 x 100mg for 12 days.

It can be taken vaginally at a dosage of 1 x 100mg but this is off licence. x

Yes you can use it continuously if you are post meno . I use 100mg every day x
