Tibolone
« on: June 16, 2019, 05:21:17 PM »

Hello,
I'm 49, I came off Prempak C almost 2 years ago. I'd been on it since I was 38 due to early menopause.
It will be 2 years in September since I last had a period and I had blood tests last week which confirmed I am officially post menopause. I'm still getting flushes, am very tired and weary, my joints ache, my skin (everywhere) is very dry and I have aged so much in the two years since ceasing Prempak. Sex is painful too.
I spoke to my GP, he has prescribed Tibolone, plus Oestrodose gel.
Does this sound like a step in the right direction? The GP kept saying its not HRT.....so I'm confused. I still have my womb, so I need oestrogen and progesterone I think.... the practice nurse said Tibolone isn't used much, so had to look it up and basically read to me what I read myself.
I took the first Tibolone today but haven't been brave enough to try the gel :/ so I thought I'd seek advice and reassurance from you all first.
Thanks for listening,
Jackie x

Can't help with the gel. Tibolone is widely prescribed. Your body breaks down the Tibolone to make hormones, it can take 3 months to work & doesn't work for everyone. I took it for the testosterone side but it had no effect on me. I came off it after 3 months, just asked GP for 100mg everol which helped with aches & pains, while I waited for a consultation appt for testosterone, as my levels were non existent since having a total hysterectomy. I'm now on testogel so hoping that will help with energy, libido etc.

I was on tibolone for 18months and it was good for libido and flushes but made me feel achy. I came off it cos it caused post menopause bleeding from womb lining thickening, but this can happen with other hrt.

I have been on Tibilone for 18 months, and it is good for libido, but i have been losing my hair and wonder if it was down to Tibilone.
Although i was on this a few years ago and it didn;t have this effect, so maybe not
I have been to the Drs and he has now given me Evoral Conti, but i have not heard good reports about it so not sure if i will change
I had no other problems with Tibilone, and like it apart from the worry about hair, but EC side effects say the same so not sure what to do
I will say the Tibilone in my opinion is up to now the best one i have had,and had no other side effects
