Vagifem
« on: March 30, 2019, 05:39:36 PM »

Hi ladies, I've recently started taking Vagifem everynight for the last three weeks due to bladder problems.
I've also been getting a lot of wind in my bowels since then and I was wondering if it could be the Vagifem or am I barking up the wrong tree here?!?!🙄
I know that hormones can affect your digestive system.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has similar.

Hi Bluebell

I don't think that Vagifem would cause wind but it could well improve your bowel function.  Using local oestrogen is important because it prevents atrophy which causes so many problems in the lower abdominal area - particularly the vagina and bladder.

The initial hit of oestrogen, when it is used daily for the early weeks, will give some reactions - so the wind could be one of them - however once the area is plumbed up with oestrogen this should settle.

Hope things improve for you soon.  DG x

Hi Dancinggirl. I've been on vagifem for a few years and every so often I need to up the dose - but even though I'm using it everynight my bladder is still not quite right. Seeing the menopause nurse on Monday coz last time she said my cervix was very low (prolapse). 😱
I thought I might be clutching at straws thinking Vagifem could cause wind.

Enough to fly a kite sometimes  ::)

My atrophy gets worse when constipated or having slow transit problems.  I hope you aren't 'taking' Vagifem though ......  it may be that insertion of the product may impact on the bowel walls, therefore losening wind ;-).
