Hi. I've been told by my pharmacist that Angeliq has been discontinued and won't be available after my current prescription has run out. Has anyone else heard this please? Yvonne

Yvonneh12, I posted this the other day for another member:
I was in my local pharmacy in Spain today and asked if Angeliq is being discontinued and as far as they know, it is still available and there are no plans to withdraw it.
Hopefully you will find a good alternative but if not, you can bulk buy it in Spain. Obviously this is not an ideal solution and would only work if you happen to come over here on holiday but I thought it might be useful to know.
It is quite expensive at about €23.00 per pack so that could be why they are discontinuing it in the UK.
I used to use this brand myself but switched several years ago.

I can't help thinking that there seems to be a lot of discontinuing of hrt preparations.
Oestrogen implants, testosterone patches, one of prem hrt's and now Angelique.
No doubt it will be about cost saving but it doesn't help women who take these medications who need to find a different hrt.
Can't help feeling that more medications should be made available not less.

Thank you all for your replies. It looks like I'll have to return to the doctors for a replacement which is a shame as I had tried several before my specialist prescribed Angeliq. X

Hi just tried to get my script for Angelique and I've been told it's no longer available, I'm gutted it was my last hope a few years ago, can I ask what you changed to and how has it been, also do you know why it's been withdrawn, thanks Carolyn

Hi Kenny
Yes Angeliq has unfortunately been discontinued. I emailed the manufacturer and was told it was discontinued due to commercial reasons. I found it to be the best I've tried but I don't think it was prescribed much as it was one of the more expensive HRTs. I've got 3 months supply left and then will be changing to Femeston so will see how that goes.
I reacted badly to Elleste conti and Kliovance which both contain noreisterhone(sp) so decided on Femeston as it has a different progesterone. Hope you find something that suits.

Like you it took 3 attempts at HRT to get the right one, I'm very concerned how I will react to the change. I go away in 12 days I've got 14 tablets left I'm going to take every other day to drag them out. The last thing I need is a bad reaction while I'm away and worse still a bleed. I'm not sure which one she's prescribed it's at the chemist.

I am prescribed Angeliq six monthly, this month being my last so had a review with my GP and she sent over my Prescription on Friday to Superdrug. They called yesterday to say they can't get it anywhere and after ringing my GP surgery again just now was told by their Pharmacy that is has been discontinued. I now have to wait for my GP to ring me tomorrow to discuss an alternative. Ahem - am not impressed at all as this one seems to suit me so I am not looking forward to the "trial and error" shenanigans that seems to go with taking a new medication. I did print out a list of prices from this site some time ago and whilst it was the most expensive at around £9 a pack there were others that weren't that much cheaper. Like I said "Ahem".
