Menopause specialist wirral
« on: November 29, 2018, 12:11:06 AM »

Hi ladies

In desperation I am thinking about trying to see a private  menopause specialist. Whilst googling I came across Jane Wilkinson who is most local to me. Has anyone any seen her and if so what was your experience? Pm me if you prefer not to reply on the forum. Xx

Hi there - if you do a search you may well see her name come up. That name does sound familiar.  Although women do report back from their experiences with particular specialists and name them - personally I don't think it's good practice and could open women up to libel or something maybe if they get slagged off (even if this might seem justified!). Another thought - are there health websites where experiences with gynaes are rated?

It's a pity you feel you have to go privately to get the help you are seeking as all the HRT ( if this is what you are looking for) is available on NHS -  so have you tried finding a different GP before forking out? Several women on here have reported wasting their money because their specialists do not live up to expectations.

Perhaps there is an NHS menopause clinic you can ask to be referred to - although waiting times are often long sadly?

Thanks for replying Hurdity. Yes I understand that it may not be good practice to discuss experiences with particular specialists on an open forum, thought maybe they could pm me.

In fairness to my gp she has been fairly helpful and sympathetic but as she said ive been going to her for nearly a year now and we are no further on. She was gojng to refer me to a menopause specialist at the local hospital but I havent received an appointment so far.

In view if my financial situation I dont think ÃŒ have a lot of choice, I will probably have to hold on for an nhs appt.  Its just sometimes I feel so desperate for some improvement in the way I feel, Ive no support at home (i havent got a partner ) and dont know anyone else irl who is having these struggles with the peri menopause x
