Hi ladies,

Who has it? 

I'm nervous as I've never had it but then again I wasn't dealing with a fistula before.  I'm nervous of having it as you read so many horror stories but I'm also nervous of not having it as these days I don't fight things off as well.

Just wondered who does what ?

I've had the flu jab every year for the last thirty odd years as I have a chronic illness.
I've never had any issues with it, other than a little localised pain around the injection site, that lasted a couple of days. This is only noticeable when you lay on your arm at night though.
My husband and elderly mother have also never had any issues with it.

I receive an invitation for one as I have a mild congenital heart defect but I have never bothered with it.
My teenage son had his first last year because he has developed lung problems, he had the spray though and he became ill a couple of days later, with temp, shivering that laid him low for a couple of days, but he will still get it again this year.

It's a 'yay' from me. Mainly because I don't think the kids / grandkids would let me live it down if I didn't. One of those 'monkey see, monkey do' kinda deals haha.

The jab nearly killed a friend of my husband last year, so no.

This years Jab has been the worst for me GH but personally I'd still rather go through my week of a very sore bruised arm and mild symptoms (or could be just coincidence ) than ever go through the flu again which ended up with double pneumonia x

It's a YAY from me. I'm with Annie0710 and Jodie_28. Better to have a few days of soreness or mild symptoms than to have flu that affects us much more and is more dangerous the older we get

The only times M in L had 'flu was after the 'flu jab.  The 2nd time she almost died.  For 3 days she sat on the settee unable to move so became hydrated, her mineral salts dropped and her lack of potassium became dangerous.

A person/animal should have inoculations only when well.  [what vets don't tell you ....... ].  Why over-load an already bad immune system with something that may cause the body to go into fight mode? 

I don't have 'flu jabs.  I had 'flu twice: 1987 and 1988, both in the March.  Never had it since.

I have been having it for quite a few years. Never any problem.

There are three versions this year, the nasal spray which I guess is for children, ordinary (quadrivalent, ie protects you against 4 strains of flu), and adjuvanted trivalent (which is supposed to be more effective and protects against 3 strains). The last one is for over-65s and anyone else at particular risk. I had the over-65s version. I had a sore upper arm for a few days, and felt a bit tired for the rest of the day after I'd had it. No problems apart from that, and I have had no problems at all in previous years. It might have been because I had the adjuvanted version that I got the sore arm.

The NHS offer it to those who will suffer more if they get it and for some people it can be life-threatening. On this basis I would have it if offered (they don't offer it to me).

I've been wondering whether to have it. Never had it before.   I can get it free at work.

My parents always had it and my dad would be fine but my mother would always feel ill after hers for a few days. Dad is no longer here but Mum still has it and it hasn't given her any after symptoms for a good few years now but she was told this years is three times stronger and to expect to feel a bit ill but the only thing that bothered her was her arm which was sore for a few days.

Father in law has the jab but a few years ago he still got a really bad dose of the flu and apparently this happened a lot last year which is why this years dose is stronger.
