Very heavy bleeding femoston 1/10
« on: October 13, 2018, 03:59:50 PM »

I'm hoping someone has been through this, and can give me some advice ?! I'm on my 4th month of femoston 1/10, and I've been getting regular bleeds, as I was told to expect, so I started the new pack, and the bleeding stopped on Saturday, but then 8 days into the white tablets, I started bleeding again ! I have never had a bleed like this before ! It's horrendous ! Sorry if this is too much information, but I'm losing large clots, can't even leave the house as the bleeding is so heavy ! My gp said I need a scan, but carry on with the femoston, what do I do ??  :'( :'(

Hi and welcome to mm

How old are you? What were your periods doing before you started hrt?
What meno symptoms are you trying to control?

A scan would be a good idea to see what's going on. You might have fibroids which could be helped by having a Mirena fitted and then just have oestrogen as patch or gel alongside. Mirena with seperate oestrogen is a popular hrt combination as it reduces the chance of erratic bleeding and often results in no bleeding at all.
Keep us posted. DG x

Hi, I'm 52, I was having awful sweating, cotton wool brain, depression, aching all over, I had been 10 months with no periods before my gp started me on femoston 1/10, the first 3 months were brilliant, other than the monthly bleed, which wasn't too bad, but now, 4 months in, I feel like I've gone backwards !!

It can be trial and error till you find the HRT that suits you.
Have the scan and perhaps ask about having a Mirena. DG x

I agree it's a good idea to get checked out in case you have fibroids etc. One reason for the bleeding is that you built up the womb lining during those 10 months when you weren't ovulating and now the lining is coming away as you are taking progestogen every month. It may well be that after a few months and it's all come away, you settle down to predictable medium flow bleeds - but have that scan and then re-appraise depending on what your specialist says and then maybe do as Dancinggirl recommends and have a Mirena fitted so that you can enjoy the benefits of added oestrgoen without the worry of bleeding or thickened lining.
