High estrogen
« on: August 03, 2018, 05:26:09 PM »

I have recently had a blood result of 11010pmol/l beta 17 estriodol

I have been on estrogel for 6 weeks, why could my result be so high.

I have no ovaries

I can't help with info but didn't want to cut and run.  Browse round.  We have a 'funny' room too ;-)

Hi and welcome. Where do you apply the Oestrogel? If it is to the arms, that would distort the result as that is where they take the blood. It is best not to use the Oestrogel for 8 hours before the blood test wherever you use it.

Hi Rindleford - I think this must be a typo!!!  Its more likely to be 110 pmol.
Tell us a bit more about yourself eg where you are in your meno journey?
How much gel are you using?

I had a high reading when using Oestrogel (not that high though!)  :D

My GP felt I was absorbing the gel too quickly as I had symptoms come back about 7 hours after applying it in the morning.

I changed to patches and the level settled.
