Oestrogel as an add on??
« on: August 01, 2018, 05:20:23 AM »

Hello all.  I was reading through some very interesting stuff on here last night, as i'd been in tears and sick of my headache which has worsened slightly since being on 2mg Progynova and having my Mirena coil added 3 weeks ago (I'm 54 and had blood tests 18 months ago showing chronically low oestrogen - I was 'off the chart' apparently).  Having thought hard last night (brain does still function slightly!!) I am CONVINCED that my oestrogen still needs upping.  I am now wondering whether to use an on line site to obtain Oestrogel, so that I can add to my current dosage....  I have a doctor's (GP) appointment in a week, but am so fed up with all this as we've still not got the balance right.  I am sick of the tinnitus and way my head feels.  Have any of you used the on line sites that look safe?  I see there's one where you actually have a 'consultation' on line.  I could wait until next week, but am DREADING the GP saying 'NO'.  I have never had tender boobs in the last 18 months of trying HRT types - which was something I always had for a short time each month when I lived my NORMAL LIFE  ;D before the onset of menopause.  Thank you Hurdity and Dancing Girl for all the information you provide here, it's fantastic.  I really value your knowledge.  Is anyone else on high levels of Oestrogen alongside the Mirena coil?  I really need to sort this.  I will also write to my private consultant today as she may help shed some light on the subject - do get fed up paying £150 everytime I need to see her though especially as this is never-ending.  Would adding more oestrogen mean I could start spotting or would the Mirenal prevent this?

So here are my questions again....

1)   Can I add oestrogel to my current 2mg Progynova which I'm taking (to add to the progesterone in the Mirena coil)?

2)   Could I UP the Progynova to a higher dose or is this not often allowed?

3)   Could upping the dosage of oestrogen start spotting or a period of sorts?  The reason I had my coil is because I had spotting on Angeliq each day for 10 weeks - combined tablet, hence complete change to above. >:(

Thanks in advance ladies!

Im sorry I dont know the answer to your questions but just wanted to ask how you got a blood test to check your oestrogen?  I havent been offered any tests and I have seem a private gyn a privaate gp and my own gp several times.  I was just told tests werent reliable.  I have been given oestrogel but after a week I have stopped as I have bad nausea and inflammation down below.  Meno sucks and I feel your pain, I hope someone has some help for you. xx

I don't think there is a higher dose in tablet form but with Oestrogel you can use up to 4 pumps x

Hello both.  I have read on here somewhere that someone had 2mg of Progynova in the morning and 1mg of Progynova at night, so that would be one more mg than I am currently taking...  I have written to my private specialist today, who I suspect will tell me to have another blood test.(this was done privately before Jessie and last time I saw her she was suggesting another one..she thinks they are reliable Jessie, so not sure why there are all these different opinions from docs).

I am seeing an acupuncturist on Friday and am looking forward to it at it does relieve my head although it makes me feel emotional too!!  My tinnitus always gets louder towards the end of the day and it's quite bad at the mo.  I feel like my head is 'sore' all the time....still I've done a lot today as I just can't keep having a snooze to escape it !!   We plough on don't we?   What a hard time for many of us.  Hugs x

Im sorry you are having a rough time.  It is hard to cope isnt it?  I wish you success with your HRT and Im so glad you have someone you trust to work with you on this.  Do you get any side effects from your HRT?
