I am having trouble finding someone to help me near where I live. I am happy to travel further, but of course would rather try nearer to home first.

I went to my GP a year ago and had some blood work done which showed borderline peri-menopausal, which was a drop in hormones form 3 years before. I asked her to refer me to a menopause specialist and was happy to pay for it etc. and she got me a name and I went there. This "specialist" listened then told me I looked fit and healthy, was a good weight and had a positive attitude so I should just get on with it and see what happens. Well, a year later I am a lot worse with heavy periods and terrible anxiety and I want to see someone who knows what they are talking about. My own Doc surgery is overwrought and they are just not interested.

I have always had problems with my periods when I was younger. I then had fertility treatment for my 2 children as a result of PCOS. I also had to have progesterone supplements when pregnant to sustain the first trimester as it was so low. As a result I don't think whatever a GP was reluctantly willing to give me would necessarily help. I want to see someone who will test me and trial and error with it.

Any recommendations of people to see in or around Cambridge. I am also happy to go into central London.

Thanks

Dr Imogen Shaw is in Cambridge and there are some ladies on here who have seen her.

Hello  AngsanaBlossom and welcome to the forum.

I saw Dr Imogen Shaw at the Nuffield in Cambridge at the beginning of the year. I understand she holds a menopause clinic every Tuesday evening but I made an appointment to see her during the day. She was  very friendly and  was able to answer all  my questions and prescribe HRT.

Hopefully you will find the correct treatment soon and I wish you well.
