I'm afraid I won't lament his going - I was fed up of his complete refusal to listen to anything the judges said if it was in the slightest negative.  Defending his celebrity is one thing, but he went beyond that and became obnoxious.  It had ceased to be entertaining.

I saw him on Lorraine yesterday, he was so upset he could hardly speak.  I like him but I'm not sure the new head judge Shirley does, perhaps that's got something to do with his contract not being renewed after 15 years  :'(

I think you could be right I found her very rude at times and she clearly had her favourites Simon Rimmer was definitely a favourite of hers don't know why perhaps it was because they both came from Merseyside.
She gave me the feeling that you really shouldn't cross her as she felt she was always right.
