Untrustworthy Bowels
«
on:

Hi Ladies,
Once again my bowels are playing up and can't be trusted!
I'm struggling to get out of the house in a morning and worried I will have an accident at work!
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks

I had this problem when I was much younger and couldn't have survived without immodium. Not a long term solution but it really helped. So sorry you are going through this.

Have you noticed any food intolerances?
My teenage son also carries Imodium with him.

My friend swears by
Immodium
. Have you charted where these bowels take over in relation to your 'cycle'?

Nature is having a laugh: not
Today my bowels took off .......... didn't go yesterday, had recently made chutney with onions. Had to dash a few moments again
but I know what has caused it. Also I haven't felt awful after, which is a relief.

I had an operation last May to repair bowel muscle and prolapses, didn't work
. I still have times when I have no control. I never leave home without Imodium and although not a solution consultant said taking imoduum is not harmful. I had hysterectomy over five years ago so not related to my period and I also tried changing my diet, I.e less fibre but made no difference. Doctor reckons it's just he way my bowels works now and I'll have to live with it

No one should 'have to live' with any condition! Yammy there could be a support Nurse at your local Hospital, maybe give them a ring or look on their web-site?

Hope they sort you out Yammy.
I use buscopan as this slows the bowel. I haven't tried Imodium, does it work fast?
Thanks for your replies.

Imodium contains the drug loperamide, which is great for diarrhoea. Don't buy the branded Imodium product though, it is far more expensive than other, own brand products. Boots, among others, do cheaper ones, usually labelled Diarrhoea Relief.

I carry mebeverine 135mg tablets. My gp, who insisted there was no evidence that hrt helped relieve menopause symptoms, diagnosed IBS. Come to think of it I haven't taken any since I got my hrt regime sorted.
