Hi and welcome to MM hughes41.
It's tough going through the meno so early - mine started when I was in my mid 30s.  It's good you are on HRT but it can take time to find the balance of hormones that works for you.
Oestrogel is great - you can use as little or as much as you need to keep meno symptoms under control but at your age 2 pumps per day would be advisable as this will protect you heart and bones - I used to apply it to inner thighs.

What progesterone have you been given? Are you doing a sequential regime or a continuous regime ?
I would stick with a sequential regime if possible - so alongside the Oestrogel, add in the progesterone for 10-12 days each month and you will then get a regular bleed a day or two after finishing the progesterone phase.  Any continuous HRt regime can cause more side effects but, if you find this progesterone suits you, you could move to the conti version in a few months.

Do tell us more about yourself e.g. were you still getting periods when you started HRT or had they stopped completely for at least a year?
The type of progesterone is important - there are different ones and its about finding the one that gives the least problems.  DG x

OK hughes41 - this is what you need to do:

Use the Sandrena every day for 16 days and continue with the Sandrena every day. Day 17 start taking 2x Utrogestan pills before bed  for 12 days (it may make you sleepy so only take this before going to bed). A couple of days after you finish taking the Utrogestan, you will back just using the Sandrena, you should get a withdrawal bleed, like a period, for a few days.

This can be a very good HRT regime, so I hope it works well for you.  If you find the Utrogestan make you too sedated, then I'd ask to switch to Provera.    DG x

If you had a period last September, you are still peri menopausal so you need to stick with a sequential HRT regime or you could get problematic bleeding - your GP should have known this!!!!

I wouldn't do the continuous regime of taking Utrogestan very day - not until you know you are definitely post menopause. Post menopause is at least one year without a natural period or over the age of 54.

Look under TREATMENTS at the top of this page, in the Progesterone section you will see Utrogestan and how to take it for the sequential regime.
