Patches or Pills
« on: December 31, 2017, 12:15:40 PM »

I have been taking Elleste Duet Conti and not noticing much improvement.  Would Evorel Conti be better?

Do patches work better / faster than pills?

Thanks x

Hi Dotty - sorry I can't remember your story - age and how long you've been trying HRT. However if you are not noticing any difference with Elleste Duet which is 2 mg oestrogen, then maybe you are not absorbing very well.

What symptoms are you still experiencing that you would like to alleviate?

Many of us have found that patches work pretty much straight away but of course depends on your circumstances, whether you are taking it cyclically and sometimes also which progestogen too. Also some women don't do well on continuous progestogens which can give constant pms type depressive symptoms and headaches etc and may even counteract the beneficial effect of oestrogen on mood for example.

I have only ever used patches and they worked from the start.

Hi Hurdity I'm 53 and 3 years post meno. Started hrt in October. Was on Kliovance for 3 weeks and then upped to Elleste Duet Conti. Been on that for 8 weeks so 11 weeks in total.

Day flushes went pretty quickly. Night flushes got better on higher dose but have come back. I'm totally exhausted, feel sick ( not from hrt) and just feel very unwell. I thought I would be feeling better by now.

Thanks Hasty. I've heard a lot about norethisterone but not sure exactly what symptoms would tell me that it's not suiting me. I was on Noriday for many years and that is norethisterone.

Hasty....wow that was quick.  My day flushes went after 3 weeks, but the night ones are still there and seem to be getting worse.
