Finding a meno clinic
« on: October 22, 2017, 07:26:37 AM »

Hi,

Can anyone help me?

Does anyone know of a GP/meno clinic in Gloucestershire? I live in Cirencester and my GP is beyond useless! I'm under nick Panay anyway but when you only see him twice a year nothing really get done as things can change more than that!
The problem I have at the minute is I keep needing to up my patches every 4-6 months, I've been on 2x 100 everol for 6 months ( E levels only reached 500) and since Monday my body reacted like there was no E what so ever so I have added another 50, I'm rapidly running out of ass space! 🤣

All I want is someone I can see a bit more regularly that isn't in London!

Cheers

Sarah

Morning  :)

There seems to be a shortage of Menopause Specialists, doesn't there  :-\
I'm currently waiting to see Nick Panay, as London not too far for me (hour on the train). I'm assuming you've looked at the information from this site to locate your nearest clinic.

So frustrating to feel unwell

Sazduggs, if you often need to adjust your oestrogen dose then Oestrogel would be far easier to use, you simply add an extra pump and rub it on your skin.  I was using patches similar to the ones you mention and I could never get anything like enough oestrogen out of them - this was confirmed in blood tests even when I was up to 100mcg patches.  I now use Oestrogel and absorb it far better - I noticed the difference almost immediately and it completely eradicated all my menopause symptoms which is something I didn't think would happen.

Can you change your prescription?

I had the same problem with the Oestrogel - my blood test a couple of hours after putting my dose on in the morning was 2300 then I had symptoms back by 3-4 in the afternoon.

I wonder how many of us are using high doses eg over 100mcg

You could try splitting the dose by using one pump every 12 hours.  I find that works well.

TRust me. Have tried that and everything else! I used t do 2 am and 2 pm, with a patch aswell and with out, tablets nothing worked until patches. I was on 150 for 15 months everything fine then since May I've had to slowly raise the amount to 175/200 now 225

Pain in the ass!

Panay wants me to go on implant but I'm not sure, worried I'll go tachyphalaxis and get fatter!

I would be very tempted to go for the implant in your situation but before you take the plunge, you need to know how much oestrogen you need to feel good.  Professor Studd always aims for the high 800s in younger women and and those with hormonal depression and anxiety.
