Twitching
« on: September 26, 2017, 06:59:23 PM »

I've had this twitching over 4 months now and it comes and goes. I really should start monitoring it to see whereabouts I am in my cycle when it happens. This month it has occurred around ovulation.

I started with twitching in various parts of the body and I also have those body jerks just as you fall asleep. They also come and go.

My main twitch now is my top lip on the left side. It's similar to those eye twitches you get. Sometimes it's there as soon as I wake up other times it comes on after eating. I did think it might be related to a tooth/nerve problem but Dentist said no and that it sounds like a muscle problem.

Has anyone else had this in peri? I do suffer from anxiety and health anxiety.

I had the eye twitch during my teens, never thought it was related to hormones.  Also the 'stepping off a kerb' as I go to sleep.

Maybe keeping a note about it?

I get these and although I've not charted them properly, but when I take magnesium they don't seem to happen.  magnesium 100% stops my cramps but I think it does my twitches too

That's interesting thanks. Can I ask what magnesium you take?

I have had the eye twitching a lot over the years but it was when I was stressed or over tired.

The twitching on my lip effects me more and makes me more anxious for some reason.

The body jerks at night have only started the last 9 months or so. I jerk or my arm sort of flies up. It's annoying but again it comes and goes.

I get this too and the big thigh twitch!

I think it's related to sudden hormone changes and, perhaps, a brief lack of oxygen to the muscles? It can be very disconcerting when it happens but I don't think it's dangerous.

Magensium dilates blood vessels so that makes sense it would help.

I'm twitching as I type !  I've had a twitch in my legs for about a week now, it comes and goes and it only bothers me at bedtime as I'm so still.  I was told it was possibly a mineral deficiency so the magnesium suggestion sounds like something I might need.

Cheers  :)
