Hi Ljp,

I use Estriol cream every day I've been doing this for quite a while, I had a smear a month ago and everything was fine, I thought I had thrush at first because of the stinging inside but it is the VA, I had swabs done at the doctors no thrush but the nurse said my cervix was very red, when this all kicked off I was itching and burning down below I had to bathe with cold water, just shower if you can, I've been taking vitamin E Capsules from  Super Drug too and using their vitamin E cream on my skin I find it really good, try and keep calm I find when I'm stressed about things it makes things a little worse xxx

Ljp you asked whether to try a Canesten pessary - earlier saying you really don't think it's thrush - you're right the whole thing can be so confusing & so uncomfortable you just don't know what to do - I've got the T shirt in every colour & keeping the area in good order is an ongoing project!  Like you, I would be afraid the strength of residue from a Canesten pessary/gel cap might be too great on very sore skin & once that's in you simply have to wait until it's all cleared, so this could make your soreness worse for quite a while.  If you do think there's some possibility that it could be thrush, might be worth trying cautiously with a little of the lower strength Canesten cream externally, as you can wash this off it it feels too uncomfortable.  I think you said originally the soreness is external.  Sorry - not nice to talk about I know, but so many of us have been there, we know how frustrating & distressing it is.

As per specialist the " assumed" thrush is very often not , and using the creams etc if you don't have it just causes more sensitisation.

It's all very miserable and my nether regions take up a lot of my time and money, and almost five years on I find it very hard to accept this side of menopause.☹️

Hope you get relief soon. 😊

Thank you for your replies, it's nice to know I'm not Ali e, although wouldn't wish thus on anyone! 😟
Last night I used some E45 hc around anus and things feel a bit better this morning.

I thought I'd cracked it, as last week was a good week, you know when you aren't aware of your vagina, that it's ok!… then suddenly last Tuesday, it started feeling sore again, I think I may have left the estriole cream off in the morning in hind sight, and had just used yes VM.
Think I'm might use ovestin rather than estriole for a few days and use the e45 hc to calm area around back passage, and hope things improve again.

Hate all this, so confusing, and constantly trying to find solutions to it.

Ljp - exactly ! When you can't feel your vagina you know all is good. I'm on vagifem / HRT / Ovestin and  just had a blip of a few days . It started for no reason at all - maybe I walked too far, or my knickers rubbed ? Who knows. I find that E45 helps me a lot, especially if I get a bit hot and sweaty in my nether regions, I also go knickerless when ever I can, and I wear soft trousers- never jeans.

Hi sweet Scarlett,
Re jeans, I've always loved wearing jeans and trousers, but this has made me buy skirts, and I've worn Tena lights pads for a few years due to urgency all part of VA, but trying to use breathable panty liners now, and yes no knickers around the house! x
How often do you use ovestin? How long have you been using it? And do you use the E45hc (hydrocortisone) or normal E45?

Re pant liners etc .....I have been using a brand by TOTM called Time of the month ....amazing no irritation not for leakage per se but ladies do use them for this.

What is in pads / tampons is quite shocking TBH.

I go knickerless shopping and dog walking 😳😱

Reverse into the freezer cabinet 🤣 that is a joke honest 🤗

LJP - I use the normal E45 just on the outer lips - and I use Ovestin a few times a week but when I have a flare up its probably daily - been on it for a few years.

It really is Trial and Error.  So far I have found Savlon good enough for all parts though Himself does advise not to coat the vagina with it, in case it does what it says on the box  :o  :D

How about LIVE yoghurt down there?  Cooling.  Can ease itchiness.  Best done last thing so that 1 can lay on a warm towel ;-).  Honey is healing but that would be too sticky, even for me!

R U still embarrassed  ???

Just to add, I also have two very sore mouth ulcers, it's all going wrong this last week!
re: mouth ulcers I get them frequently - especially if sugar intake spikes. Best solution to date is Alfred Vogels Milkosan - liquid - not expensive it's a prebiotic and I used it as a mouthwash. Cleared in a day! DaisyB xx
