Hi...am recovering with UTI and have been using 10mg vagifem twice a week..I want to use it three times a week....do you think Doctor will agree. 10mg doesn't seem to do much..any experience of this? Plus I think I need a cream on outer area..ovestin doesn't suit me..are there alternatives?

I use Vagifem every day and using it five times a week is equivalent to the old dose, many doctors are happy to prescribe it at that level.

My gynae told me that using it everyday was only equivalent to taking one or two, can't quite remember which, systemic HRT tablets a year. It is quite safe to use long term too.
Up it to five times a week and see how you go.
There is another cream, think it is called ortho gynest, but I have no problems with Ovestin so use that too.

Orthogynest was discontinued.  I have Ovestin which is delivered differently; every night for 2/3 weeks then 2/3 times a week, some ladies find that they need to use Vagifem 7 nights a week as it's a lesser dose than the original product.  riverrunsfree - VA for me presented as urine infection-type symptoms and felt like razor blades up there  :o

Orthogynest is not discontinued as such just changed the name to estriol cream.
